CRASE
What is CRASE?
The CRASE program provides community members with evidence-based strategies to avoid, deny, and defend during an active shooter event. Developed by law enforcement experts, the training focuses on:
Situational awareness.
Recognizing potential threats.
Taking appropriate actions to protect yourself and others.
Why Attend?
While we hope never to encounter such emergencies, being prepared can save lives. Officer Treadway will walk us through practical tips and realistic scenarios to help you feel confident and equipped should the need arise.

Community Safety Class (CRASE)
CRASE stands for Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events. It's an educational program that teaches people how to survive an active shooter event by using the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy:
Avoid: Start with your state of mind
Deny: When it's difficult or impossible to get away, keep your distance from the threat, create barriers, lock doors, turn off the lights, hide behind large objects, and silence your phone
Defend: Protect yourself because you have the right to do so
The CRASE course was developed by the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) program at Texas State University. The FBI considers ALERRT the national standard for active shooter events.
CRASE courses cover topics such as: The history and prevalence of active shooter events, Civilian response options, Medical issues, Drill considerations, and The role of professional guardians.
